July 1 brings several price changes

The government will approve a group of measures, Finance Minister Sergej Kozlík announced on June 23 following the mid-June meeting of economic ministers and bankers. The measures should include a new information system worth 1 bn Sk, which should improve collection of duties and taxes.

An increase on the excise tax for petrol and diesel will increase their price by about one Sk/liter. Prices of electricity for corporate customers will go up by 10 percent, while the prices for citizens will be kept untouched.

The one bn Sk reduction in the state subsidy for heat will translate into approximately 10-percent price increase. Prices of express railway will be increased at a rate equalling annual inflation, and prices of weekend bus transportation will grow as well. The fees for usage of TV sets and radio will see a 50 percent increase. All these measures came in force on July 1.
