THE CONSUMER price index for June rose by 0.2 percent month-on-month and 8.1 percent year-on-year, according to data of the Slovak Statistics Office.
Core inflation stood at 0.3 percent for the month and 2.3 percent for the year, while net inflation had respective figures of 0.2 percent and 3 percent.
The price index development for June was basically in line with the expectations of local economic analysts.
"But we had expected a slight correction in the growth of fuel prices," ČSOB bank analyst Marek Gábriš told TASR.
Prices in June rose most significantly in the categories of education (1.1 percent), transportation services (0.6 percent), hotels and restaurants (0.6 percent), and food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.4 percent).
Other rises ranged from 0.1 to 0.2 percent.
On the other hand, prices fell by 0.4 percent in areas such as furniture, household appliances, and regular household maintenance products.
Prices remained unchanged in the categories of clothing and shoes, postal and telecom services, and miscellaneous goods and services.
