“The top priority is to establish a connection with Germany,” said Karl Dandler, chair of the board of directors and executive director of Košice airport. “We hope that we’ll manage to do this as soon as possible.”

According to Dandler, the airport along with its partners such as the city of Košice, the Košice Tourism Organisation, Košice 2013 and Košice region are paying particular attention to introducing this flight.

Košice regional Governor Zdenko Trebuľa noted that there are many companies in the region including German ones that should participate in setting up the new route based on their own economic interest.

“It’s a long-term interest, including from the perspective of the participation of local employers whose mother company is in Germany, to set up a destination in this country,” said Košice deputy mayor Renáta Lenártová.
