SLOVENSKÉ Lodenice Komárno shipyard has announced mass layoffs. Of 685 employees, 198 will lose their jobs by the end of this year, the SITA newswire reported.
The head of the Komárno labour office's employment service department, Dagmar Tureková, said that the reason is the company's unfavourable financial situation.
The unemployment rate in the Komárno district reached 13.54 percent in May, up 0.73 percent in one month since April. The labour office registered 7,398 job seekers which is 371 more than the previous month.

Layoffs of Slovak citizens working in Hungary continue as well. In May, 51 persons commuting to Hungary from Slovakia lost their jobs.
