TRAVEL-guide publishing firm Lonely Planet has included Slovakia among its top-ten list of countries worth visiting in 2013, according to an announcement on the company’s website published on Tuesday, October 23.
Slovakia was praised for its rich cultural heritage and for numerous adventure opportunities for tourists. According to the firm, Slovakia offers cheap opportunities for skiing and stag/hen parties, but is trying to overhaul its image. In addition, it emphasised the significant changes that the country has undergone since the Velvet Revolution in 1989.
The only European country to rank higher than Slovakia on the list was Montenegro, which placed 2nd, and was described by the website as “an emerging superstar with wild beauty”.
The list is topped by Sri Lanka. South Korea placed 3rd, followed by Ecuador and Slovakia.
