LUČENEC, in south-central Slovakia, wants to wrap up construction of an industrial park with assistance of EU structural funds by the end of August this year. Milan Marko, the mayor of Lučenec, is holding talks with potential investors from Austria and Ukraine, a spokesperson for the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO), Jana Murínová, told The Slovak Spectator. Talks are focusing on the terms of cooperation agreements.
The total volume of the two investments should be €9.5 million, with investors aiming to create about 300 new jobs in total.
The town has secured almost Sk93 million (€2.9 million) from EU structural funds and from the state budget for the construction of infrastructure for the industrial park. And last June the town signed an agreement with SARIO, which provided for a grant.
