Martimex active despite decline

Martimex Inc., Martin, an export-import company specializing in heavy engineering products, posted a turnover of 3.75 billion Sk ($107 million) in the first 10 months of this year, which is a 13.9 percent annual decline. In the same period, the company exported goods worth 2.49 billion Sk, a 3.2 percent annual increase. The main reason for the decline was the general crisis of the Slovak heavy engineering sector. Martimex hopes to get out of its slump by extending its activities to truck transportation, petrol fuel distribution and tourism.
