ELENA Kohutíková, vice-governor of the Slovak National Bank, said in an interview with the German paper FAZ that she was in favour of introducing the common European currency in Slovakia as soon as possible following EU entry.
With inflation expected to rise next year, and the state budget deficit projected at 4.5 per cent of GDP in 2002, Slovakia remains some way away from meeting some of the EMU's key requirements on fiscal discipline and price control.
