Net receipts from EU €423.9m in 2009

SLOVAKIA’S net receipts from the EU budget increased last year to €423.9 million, according to the draft final account of the general government sector released by the Finance Ministry. Slovakia received a total of €1.12 billion from the EU last year and paid €695.7 million in national payments and contributions to the EU budget, the SITA newswire reported.

In 2008 Slovakia received €250.1 million more than it paid into the EU budget.

According to the revised 2009 state budget, Slovakia had counted on total receipts from the EU of €1.287 billion; the actual sum drawn from EU funds represented 87 percent of that.

Since its accession to the European Union in May 2004, Slovakia has transferred €3.23 billion to EU coffers and received €4.827 billion, representing a net inflow of €1.597 billion.
