THE LARGEST car show in Slovakia, Autosalón Nitra, is expected to benefit from good timing - it's being held on the heels of a famous car show in Frankfurt, which would attract a number of German car show unveilings and surprises to Nitra, organisers said.
"The Nitra car show will open its gates only several days after the prestigious car show in Frankfurt, which is kicking off a season of similar shows in Europe," František Ďurkovič, the director of a business unit in the Agrokomplex-Výstavníctvo Nitra organising group, told the TASR news agency. "Many exhibitors will go directly from Germany to Nitra with their newest models and hot unveilings prepared for 2008."
The 15th annual Autosalón Nitra takes place from September 28 to October 3.
All European and international carmakers compete for customers, and the car show in Nitra is a welcome opportunity for them to present their offerings to the Eastern market and establish business contacts here, Ďurkovič said.
The carmakers planned to display 39 new models - including two European debuts and many Slovak premieres, Agrokomplex-Výstavníctvo told the media.
Visitors will see booths from a number of global brands, including Alfa Romeo, BMW, Fiat, Hummer, Land Rover, Mercedes Benz, Mazda, Renault and Smart. More than 260 companies from Europe, the United States and Asia have registered to take part, Agrokompex-Výstavníctvo Nitra said.
The car show will cover 40,880 square metres and the organisers expect about 170,000 visitors.
Last year's show welcomed about 165,000 visitors. It featured four world premieres, three concept cars, and 35 Slovak debuts.
