Consumer prices in Slovakia rose 0.7 percent in November, putting the year-on-year inflation rate at 6.2 percent, ŠÚSR said on December 9. The monthly inflation rate in November was slightly better than a month ago (0.9 percent in Oct97), but slightly worse than a year ago (0.4 percent in Nov96). The biggest increase was recorded in the prices of clothes and shoes (1.1 percent), foodstuffs and soft drinks (0.8 percent), and furniture, household appliances and maintenance (0.7 percent). On the other hand, prices of healthcare services together with alcohol and tobacco products showed the lowest increase (0.2 and 0.3 percent, respectively), while education even became cheaper (-0.1 percent).
