UP TO 316 employees of the Galand shoe manufacturer based in Snina, in eastern Slovakia, are facing the loss of their jobs after the company reported planned layoffs at the local labour office in Humenné for May and June 2013, the SITA newswire reported.
The layoffs could impact 167 employees in the Snina district and 149 employees in the Bardejov district. Of all the employees to be laid off, 266 are women.
The main reason for the layoffs is that production capacities have not been fulfilled due to a drop in orders.
