GARDEN parties are often associated with the elite killing time and dusting their contacts at lavish spots. However, international chambers of commerce operating in Slovakia have redeemed the tradition by linking it to charity, proving that partying can at the same time help the needy.
Bratislava's Grassalkovich garden will open its gates on May 27th to host the 5th annual garden party organised by the informal association of international chambers of commerce in Slovakia. The event is in cooperation with the Silvia Gašparovičová Education and Health for All Foundation and the Bratislava Old Town Hall.
Organisers hope the garden party will also demonstrate that governmental, non-governmental and business entities can work well together when supporting charity.
Last year's charity auction supported the Association of Dance Sports on Wheelchair, the Home of Social Services for Children and Adults and the project of the first People's Academy in Kežmarok.
Top state representatives, including President Ivan Gašparovič and First Lady Silvia Gašparovičová, EU representatives, diplomats and business people will attend. The proceeds from this year's auction will be distributed to disabled children through Gašparovičová's foundation.
