BRANISLAV Bačík, a Smer MP between 2006 and 2010, has been named the chair of Slovakia’s National Property Fund (FNM). The FNM is the country’s privatisation agency and owns swathes of state property, shares in state-run companies and shares in partially-privatised companies. Bačík was nominated by the new leadership of the Economy Ministry, the TASR newswire reported.
Bačík was elected chairman of the board of trustees of the FNM in October 2010 and replaces Anna Bubení-ková as its new head.
Bubeníková was sacked by the Radičová cabinet on January 11 this year based on revelations in the so-called Gorilla file, an unverified intelligence report including purported transcripts of covertly recorded conversations between senior officials, including Bubeníková, and leading businesspeople that suggest corrupt activity. She denies accepting bribes.
