It will now be possible to check in what stage the construction of a certain highway or express dual-carriageway is in, thanks to a new interactive map introduced by the non-governmental economic think-tank INEKO.
Vsitors can find information like construction dates and their actuality, traffic intensity as well as the evaluation of experts on what sections need to be completed as soon as possible, the Sme daily reported.
“There is also information about the completed and remaining stages of project preparation,” said Ján Kovalčík of INEKO, who led the Strategies Institute at the Transport Ministry under Ján Figeľ (2010-2012), as quoted by Sme.
The data additionally suggests the construction deadlines do not often reflect the minimum time necessary for the remaining stages of the preparation, he added.
The Transport Ministry disagrees with the statement, explaining that actual construction deadlines depend on several factors and processes. As a result, it cannot be said whether the deadline is final in advance.
“The National Highway Company could, similarly to the past, offer a theoretical construction deadline if it had unlimited sources and the section was classified as top priority,” the ministry said, as quoted by Sme.
The deadlines have always been presented as the earliest possible, and not as definite, the ministry added.
Though the National Highway Company (NDS) offers a similar website, it is not as interactive and well arranged as INEKO’s, Sme reported.
