A SLOVAK company, Soitron, will develop pilot infrastructure for informatisation of Slovakia’s health-care sector. The total value of the government order is €1.063 million, without VAT, compared with the originally estimated sum of €1.7 million. The decision was made on December 23 last year, the SITA newswire wrote.
More extensive usage of information technologies, so-called informatisation of Slovakia’s health-care sector, is a key goal of Health Minister Richard Raši. The government adopted two important documents regarding e-Health in 2008: in March it acknowledged a report on the condition of informatisation in the health care field and in July it approved the strategic goals for e-Health. The Health Ministry estimates the total costs of informatisation from 2009 to 2013 to be approximately €252 million. The costs are expected to be covered from EU funds, the state budget and other sources.
Beginning in 2011 patients should be able to make an appointment at a specialist medical provider via the internet as part of the pilot operation of e-Health, SITA wrote. Information about drugs and their availability, medical aids, obtaining health care abroad, healthy lifestyles and about providers of health care should be also be accessible via the internet. E-Health should also enable electronic prescription of medicines, consultations between patients and physicians, and electronic exchange of opinions between doctors.
