PMÚ fines reach nearly Sk1 billion

THE SLOVAK antitrust office, PMÚ, imposed fines totalling Sk996 million (€26.3 million) between January and October 2005, the SITA news agency wrote.

The PMÚ imposed the highest fine of Sk885 million (€23.3 million) on fixed line operator Slovak Telecom (ST) on May 25 for the misuse of its dominant position.

ST failed to provide access to local loops to alternative telecommunications operator appealed the verdict.
