THE RECENTLY formed Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (RÚ) is to be led by Vladimír Kešjar, who until recently was the vice-chair of the Slovak Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TÚ). The office was established on January 1, 2014, by merging two regulatory offices falling under the remit of the Transport Ministry: the TÚ and the Postal Regulatory Office, the SITA newswire reported.
The recently passed Law on the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Postal Services and the Transport Office stipulates that five regulatory offices controlled by the Transport Ministry should merge into two by the beginning of this year. The goal is to reduce the number of budgetary institutions, reduce the administrative staff, and thus save money. In the first three years of the operation of the new institutions, €2,129,000 should be saved, according to officials.
