PSA Peugeot Citroen will increase salaries, finds agreement with unions

After five months of bargaining, management and unionists achieved an agreement on salary hikes.

Employees of the Trnava plant of the carmaker PSA Peugeot Citroen will get a wage hike in 2017. They will receive 6.3 percent more monthly on average, the Sme daily wrote on March 2.

“The average monthly salary in the car plant reached the amount of €1,395, including bonuses and additional allowances, in 2016, management not included,” PSA Groupe Slovakia wrote in its statement. “This is €64 more compared to 2015. The average monthly salary of a production operator amounted to €1,007, including bonuses and additional allowances.” All salaries stated are gross amounts.

The management reached an agreement with unionists after five months of bargaining. Thus, the average salary in the Trnava company should reach €1,483 this year. The carmaker also agreed with unionists on increasing the monthly salary by a fixed sum, €53, for employees who have worked for the company for more than 10 years . Loyal employees may, taking into consideration new rules of flexibility, earn up to €94 more in a month.

Currently, the Trnava carmaker is finishing filling a fourth, weekend shift. It will be composed of two or three work shifts. In the first case, the plant will operate also on Saturdays and Sundays, the in the second case, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Thus, Peugeot plans to create 800 new jobs. “In this regime, workers appreciate more flexibility when organising their lives,” the carmaker stated, as cited by Sme.
