Public servants get four-percent raise

Public servants and state employees are getting a raise in 2008.

Public servants will see their salaries rise by four percent, while state employees can expect a three-percent raise, it was announced on August 20.

The pay hike is the result of negotiations on contracts for 2008 between the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and the Family and representatives of employees whose jobs are designated as being in the public interest, the TASR newswire reported.

Both documents are expected to be ratified on October 17.
