Real estate prices up over 30%

Housing prices continue to shoot up in Slovakia, rising by 31.2% y-o-y in the second quarter after a 34.5% rise from January to March, according to the National Bank of Slovakia.

Housing prices continue to shoot up in Slovakia, rising by 31.2% y-o-y in the second quarter after a 34.5% rise from January to March, according to the National Bank of Slovakia.

The average price of housing per square metre was almost Sk47,000 (€1,550) in Q2, compared to about Sk37,000 (€1,240) at the end of 2007.

The highest average prices were in Bratislava region, at Sk60,800 (€2,020) per square meter (up 27%), followed by Košice region at Sk35,700 (€1,190), up 58.7%. Prešov region was a strong third at Sk31,700 (€1,050), a 54.8% growth. The lowest prices were in Nitra region, at Sk22,600 (€750), up 58.1%.
