The end prices of electricity for households will go down by 4.3 percent on average as of January, while those of gas will drop by 2.6 percent and those of heat by 6 percent, the Office for the Regulation of Network Industries (ÚRSO) announced on November 30.
The price reductions are partly a result of an in-depth inspection concerning end prices by ÚRSO at distribution companies, ÚRSO chairman Jozef Holjenčík told the TASR newswire.
“Thanks to this physical property inspection, unparalleled in its extent in the EU, the creation of prices for 2017 can fully reflect the actual situation concerning the value of the property of distribution companies,” Holjenčík.
The reduction in prices in electricity has been announced despite growth in prices on the commodity markets in recent months, he noted.
Meanwhile, the actual costs of distributing electricity for large industrial customers have been made more objective, with a fall in distribution prices by 16.44 percent for high-voltage electricity and by 0.42 percent for very high voltage levels.
Conversely, the prices of potable water supplies and sewer charges should post a mild increase of 0.3 percent in 2017.
