Following from an early August discussion between Premier Vladimír Mečiar and Minister of Transportation Alexander Rezeš with Jevgenij Ivanovič Šapošnikov, director of the Russian airline Aeroflot, Aeroflot will provide its expertise to the future Slovak national airline. The know-how will be mainly applied in the areas of personnel training, the organization of civil air transportation and aircraft maintenance. Slovakia will also receive several TU 154 M civil aircraft from Russia as partial repayment of its debt to Slovakia. The government has not yet decided about a Slovak national airline, but is expected to do so this September.
