AROUND 3.6 million travellers have used Ryanair flights to and from Bratislava Airport (BTS) since the airline launched operations in Slovakia five years ago, the company's Slovak sales and marketing manager, Alexandra Königová, told the TASR newswire.
Marking the 5th anniversary, Königová said that Ryanair had gradually boosted its number of Bratislava routes and that it operated 21 scheduled flights this summer.
Only 63,000 passengers boarded Ryanair flights to and from Bratislava in 2005 but the number swelled to 800,000 in 2009 and Ryanair predicts it will carry one million passengers via BTS this year.
Ryanair will fly 14 routes from and to Bratislava during its winter schedule that begins on November 1. The frequency of flights on the most popular routes will increase.
