“Ryanair is pleased to extend our Bratislava summer 2015 schedule with a new route to Athens, operating three times weekly, in addition to a new Madrid route,” Klaudia Kalazna, Ryanair’s Slovak sales and marketing manager, wrote in the company’s press release.

In all, the air carrier will operate 17 routes out of Bratislava and serve an estimated one million passengers per year.

Ryanair recently announced that it will set up a base in Bratislava in March.
Bratislava’s M.R. Štefánik Airport (BTS) is also set to announce the launching of a new route to a German city.

“In the next few weeks, we’d like to announce the opening of a new flight route to a very significant western European city that will be key for us,” Director Ivan Trhlík told the TASR newswire on December 11.

The launch of the new service should be significant for Slovakia from the tourist and business viewpoints alike, as German tourists were the third most numerous group of tourists in Slovakia.
