“All major Slovak firms are involved in the project,” SE president Paolo Ruzzini said, as quoted by the SITA newswire, adding that Slovak companies gained nearly 63 percent of the contracted volume, around €1.16 billion.

Czech companies will earn over €450 million based on contracts concluded to date, while German firms and Italian firms are set to earn €138 and €82 million respectively. Slovenské Elektrárne also concluded contracts with companies from the UK and the US.

According to Ruzzini, the completion of the third and fourth units of EMO continues in line with plans. It should cost a total of €2.775 billion. The project is expected to be completed by 2013. SE resumed work on the two units of the nuclear power plant in November 2008. The most intensive phase of construction is expected to be carried out in 2011 and as many as 3,500 people will work on the project.
