THE OPENING ceremony for the newly constructed Apollo Bridge in Slovakia's capital Bratislava will take place on September 4 and open to traffic the following day, the SITA news agency reported.

The Bratislava mayor's spokesman Milan Vajda also said that top Slovak constitutional officials and Bratislava municipality representatives would attend the opening ceremony, together with representatives of the bridge's investor and constructor.

The ceremony will include a musical performance for all ages and a firework display in the shape of the outline of the new bridge, said Vajda.

He also said that on this day the public had the unique chance to walk the entire 300-metre length of the bridge.

The construction work on the fifth bridge across the Danube River in Bratislava, launched in 2003 and carried out by Doprastav and the construction's investor Metro, was completed at the end of June 2005. The final inspection of the construction should take place in August.
