RETAIL shops will only have to close for three and a half days per year, after the ruling Smer MPs gave up on their intention to increase the number of holidays requiring the closure of shops, the SITA newswire reported.
“We have agreed that we will respect a certain agreement that took place among social partners during negotiations about the preparation of the amendment to the Labour Code,” Smer MP Ján Podmanický said, as quoted by SITA. He did not rule out that Smer might return to the topic later.
Under the current rules shops must stay closed on New Year’s Day (January 1), Easter Sunday, Christmas Eve (December 24) after 12:00, and Christmas Day (December 25).
