The Slovak state budget in the first four months of 1999 posted a deficit of 1.413 billion Slovak crowns ($33.3 million), Finance Minister Brigita Schmögnerová said on May 3. The budget deficit in the same period of 1998 was 264 million crowns.
Budget revenues in the first four months of 1999 were 58.759 billion crowns, down from 60.841 in the first four months of 1998. Expenditures hit 60.172 billion crowns, slightly below the 61.105 spent in the same period last year.
The Slovak parliament approved the 1999 state budget with a 15.0 billion crown deficit, equivalent to two percent of gross domestic product. The budget has revenues of 179.9 billion crowns and expenditure of 194.9 billion crowns.
