Slovak minimum wage among the lowest in EU

SLOVAKIA's minimum monthly wage ranks among the lowest in the EU, at least among the 18 member states that have such a wage defined in law, the Hospodárske noviny daily wrote.

According to Eurostat data, the monthly minimum wage in Slovakia is €183. Only Latvia and Lithuania have a lower minimum wage, at €129 and €159, respectively.

The highest minimum wage in the EU is in Luxemburg, where it is €1,503.

However, in Luxemburg, 18 percent of all workers earn minimum wage, the highest proportion in the EU, with France next at 15.6 percent.

On the other hand, the lowest proportion of workers earning the minimum wage is in Spain, with just 0.8 percent. In Slovakia, 1.9 percent of workers earn the minimum wage.
