On February 10, an agreement to establish a Slovak-Russian Trade Chamber was signed in Moscow by representatives of both countires' chambers of commerce. The chamber will start operations this year and will focus mainly on improving trade relations between the two countries. Russia's trade deficit with Slovakia made up a large percentage of Bratislava's 60 billion Sk trade deficit in 1996. One area where the two chambers are expected to work closely together will be in ensuring security of goods transported in Russia.
