Slovak Telecom (ST) made a net profit of 902 million crowns ($21 million) in 1998. Its operating income was 16.97 billion crowns, and its operating costs were 9.5 billion crowns. Štefan Bugár, vice-chairman of the ST Board of Directors, announced these results at a June 29 discussion forum on the telecom privatization.
Last year, ST made investments of 9.64 billion crowns, while shareholder equity slumped to 22.58 billion crowns as of December 31, 1998 from 24.74 billion crowns at the end of 3Q98.
