Income from tourism in Slovakia was 14.7 billion crowns in the first nine months of 1999, an increase of 23.6% over the same period last year. The new numbers reverse a downward trend from last year, when foreign currency income from tourism fell 10.4% to 17.2 billion crowns from the year before.
In the first nine months of 1999, 23.323 million foreign visitors arrived in Slovakia, down 8.4% compared with the same period of 1998. The only increase was reported at the Slovak-Polish border with 17.9% more incoming tourists.
