The Slovakia-Hungary pipeline offers to the market yearly transmission capacity of 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas in direction from Slovakia to Hungary. In the reverse mode, yearly interruptible capacity at a level of 1.8 billion cubic meters is available, according to Eustream.
In mid June Eustream complained that the Hungarian side did not hand over to the Slovak side the Slovak part of the Ipeľ river crossing section (IRCS) built between the municipalities Slovenské Ďarmoty and Balassagyarmat villages. It is a part of the pipe passing underneath the river Ipeľ, the construction of which, also on Slovak territory, was realised by a Hungarian subcontractor selected by MGT.
“Issues on the Hungarian side, which prevented the launching of the pipeline were removed,” reads the Eustream press release.
The bidirectional gas pipeline is 113 kilometres long, out of which 94 kilometres are in Hungary and 19 kilometres are in Slovak territory. It connects the high-pressure system located at Veľké Zlievce village with the Hungarian transmission network near the village of Vecsés in the suburbs of Budapest.
