The Slovak Finance Ministry said on March 22 that the country's trade balance deficit stood at 7.03 billion Slovak crowns in the January to February period. "It [the deficit] would be about one-third lower than the trade balance deficit in the same period of last year," ministry spokesman Peter Švec told journalists.
The official February trade balance figures are expected from the Slovak Statistical Office by March 31. In January, Slovakia posted a trade balance deficit of 2.584 billion crowns, compared with minus 5.506 billion crowns in January 1998.
