SLOVAKS make online purchases most often during the first half of the week, buying mostly clothes and footwear in e-shops, according to a survey TNS Aisa conducted for Erste Group.

“Based on our data Slovaks shop online most often on Tuesday and Wednesday, contrary to Saturday when they do this significantly less,” Branislav Jarábek, the head of electronic channels and payments of Slovenská Sporiteľňa told the TASR newswire. “They do the most shopping at Slovak sellers in the evening between seven and eight o’clock, when almost seven purchases take place every minute.”

Slovaks are increasingly using their devices with access to the internet for shopping. As much as 15 percent of the population do so several times per month, according to the survey.

Compared with other countries in the region, only Austrians and Serbians are more active in online shopping, TASR wrote. On the bottom side of the ranking are Romanians, Croatians and Hungarians.

While Slovaks shop for clothes and footwear online, in the Czech Republic electronic appliances dominate, while Austrians shop online especially on holidays.

For over three quarters of Slovaks, the main reason for online shopping is the better price of goods and services in e-shops compared to brick-and-mortar shops.
