THE PRIMARY electricity producer in Slovakia, Slovenské Elektrárne (SE), has a lost a lawsuit in which it was seeking €94 million from the state in compensatory damages based on the government’s regulation of electricity prices for households and small enterprises in 2009.
The district court handling the lawsuit agreed with the position of the Economy Ministry that the regulated prices did not cause damage to SE, the SITA newswire reported. SE did not comment on the court’s ruling.
Slovenské Elektrárne is 66 percent owned by the Italian-based Enel energy company while 34 percent of the shares of SE are owned by the state via the Economy Ministry.
