Slovnaft in hunt for Unipetrol

Slovak refinery Slovnaft, which has 41 filling stations in the Czech Republic, has joined a consortium with MOL and TVK for a share in the Czech company Unipetrol.

Slovnaft finished the first nine months of this year with a net profit of Sk3.58 billion ($74 million), 122% higher than its Sk1.61 billion profit in the same period last year.

Hungarian MOL bought into Slovnaft in spring last year, creating a regional refining giant. MOL has since then made clear it planned to expand even further across the region.
