SLOVAKIA's most famous football club, Slovan Bratislava, has a new owner. Finance company Slavia Capital (SC) has bought the company that manages the team's transactions.
SC representative Ľudovít Černák said his company is also considering becoming joint owners of Slovan's stadium and other land connected to the club, according to the SME daily.
Besides its trademark, the land and stadium are considered Slovan's most valuable assets.
Police seeking evidence of financial fraud raided the club's complex last year. Alleged mafia figures Peter Čongrády and Jozef Svoboda, who were both murdered, were connected to the club's funding.
Slovan's debts currently reach around Sk250 million (€6.4 million).
