Finance Minister Brigita Schmögnerová said June 26 that the privatisation of a majority stake at insurer Slovenská poisťovna (SP) has attracted the interest of the strongest insurance companies in Europe. The minister was, however, reluctant to say how much the government expected from the privatisation of its 78% stake in SP. An investor for the insurer is expected to be chosen before the end of 2001.
The Minister had earlier called on private shareholders in SP to sell their stakes along with the government's during the upcoming privatisation tender.
