SLOVAK gas utility Slovenský plynárenský priemysel (SPP) will file a lawsuit against the Slovak Republic after the state regulator ordered the gas distributor to lower the price of gas by over 5 percent in March 2012, the TASR newswire reported.
After the March general election SPP management, including members of the SPP board of directors nominated by Freedom and Solidarity (SaS), decided to launch the legal action.
The pricing decision by the state regulator resulted in a drop in prices of 5.24 percent on average, SPP’s director general Jean-Jacques Ciazynski said, as reported by the Pravda daily, adding that SPP had analysed the decision and prepared further steps in order to protect the company’s interests. The board representatives of SPP’s foreign co-owners, GdF Suez and E.ON Ruhrgas, along with state representatives, passed the decision to file the lawsuit by May 14.
Former economy minister Juraj Miškov, an SaS nominee, has repeatedly stated that he did not interfere in the work of state representatives at the utility.
