The situation after the pandemic has not come back to “normal”. It developed another pandemic – of mental health issues. Apart from the pandemic, other circumstances like the war in a neighborhood country, natural disasters and growing costs of living have put people under more pressure and in a state of instability. People must live with “the new normal”. There comes a space for big companies, who could and should support their employees in every possible way.

Stability & Support

One of ING’s quotes says, “At ING, we’re each other’s biggest supporters”, which is also a promise to its people. “There were zero contract terminations the past 3 years because of covid reasons. Not many companies can say so… ING Hubs Slovakia has been constantly growing and it won’t be any different this year. In contrary to our competitors in BSCs sector (marked by recession), we plan to welcome around 250 new colleagues. We have open 30 roles in average - www.ing.jobs/slovakia - with diverse scope from crime fighters to operational business controllers” said Sandra Balazikova, Head of HR.

ING Hubs Slovakia stands by its employees, underlined by the fact of how many actions have been taken to this point to balance the bad economic situation. “We increased the salaries based on the market situation, we provided 2 extraordinary payments to our employees in the last four months, and we definitely plan to continue with the support. What I personally value on ING Hubs Slovakia is full transparency in regard to remuneration strategy & metrics, which still isn’t very common practice on the market,” said Sandra.

The past year wasn’t just about the monetary adjustments, ING Hubs Slovakia also did major enhancements of Employees Benefits. A survey was conducted to find out more about what employees need, and if the current benefit package mirrors that need. “Apart from the standard benefit package that consists of sick leave compensation, life insurance contribution and additional days off, we also offer more amenities what our colleagues can use – fully-equipped gym with Yoga, Pilates & Meditation classes, game room and coffee corners right at the workplace. Employees can also take advantage of psychological help and telephone consultations if they feel so” said Maria Eugenie Dizon, HR Business Partner.

Wellbeing & Flexibility

Flexibility is another important part of people’s expectations. Flexible working hours make life easier not only for parents, but also for young people, that need to have time for their hobbies and other interests. “We have reduced working hours to 7,45 hours/per day instead of the standard 8 hours and in addition to standard vacation days we have increased extra vacations days up to 10/per year. Furthermore, flexibility saves not only time but also money for commuting” said Andrej Orogvani, Head of Communication and Center of Excellence.

Wellbeing is a complex combination of a person's physical, mental, emotional, and social health factors. It is strongly linked to happiness and life satisfaction. “The average person spends one-third of his life at work, so it is important to talk about “Wellbeing at work”! Which is also a name of new episodes of podcast Nevyhoreni from Forbes. We have joined the forces to bring up views of experts to help people manage their work-life and to answer difficult questions of today’s workstyle” explained Andrej.
