STATE railway company ŽSR has cancelled a Sk4.8 billion (Ř117 million) tender for reconstruction work on the track between Šenkvice and Cífer in west Slovakia. The work was to be 50 percent financed by the European Commission.
ŽSR explained that the offers of both companies involved in the tender had exceeded the money available for the work.
The work would have allowed trains to travel at up to 160 kilmetres per hour.
