SUMMER is the time for music festivals. The warm weather sets people free to relax and enjoy great live music.
Below, The Slovak Spectator presents a list of this summer's hottest music festivals.
Klikkfest (Nové Zámky, June 30 - July 2):
A huge rock festival. About 60 rock bands from Slovakia and neighbouring countries play on six stages.

Babica Bojná (Ranč pod Babicou, July 1):
Fourth annual motorbike festival with accompanying live music.

Topvar Rock Fest(Nové Mesto nad Váhom, July 1 - July 2):
Second annual music festival, including some interesting foreign artists.

World & Etno fest (Levice, July 1 - July 2):
Fifth annual festival that together with Moravian Zahrada and Polish Ethnosfera forms the international The Three Suns Festival.

Radimovská šopa (Radimov, July 1 - July 2):

Bažant Pohoda (Trenčín, July 15 - July 16):
The largest music festival in Slovakia featuring some top international names.
Performers: The Prodigy (Great Britain), Garbage (USA), Asian Dub Foundation (Great Britain), Roots Manuva (Great Britain), The Klezmatics (USA).

Žákovic Open(Trenčianske Bohuslavice, July 22 - July 23):
One of the smallest festivals in Slovakia; a fact organizers present as one of its positives. This year is its fifth year.

SummerBeach Rudava (Malé Leváre, July 22 - July 24):
A combination of beach volleyball and concerts.

Hodokvas (Pezinok, August 18 - August 20): Multimedia open-air festival. German punk band Die Toten Hosen will be one of the main attractions. Apart from the music, you can also take part in a Literary Circus and International Sculpture Symposium. Performers: Die Toten Hosen (Germany), The Sooner, The Herbaliser, Zion Train (Great Britain)

Stupavský širák (Stupava, August 19 - August 20):
Country and folk bands as well as performances from folk dancing troupes.

Country lodenica (Piešťany, August 26 - August 28):
Traditional festival of country and folk music on four stages.
Theatre performances are also part of the festival. Among other attractions are gold panning, a boulder wall, horse riding and a Native American camp.
