“In light of the plans to intensify car production, the capacities of existing facilities are inadequate to cover the further expansion of production,” reads the text submitted for the environmental impact assessment, as quoted by the TASR newswire.
No changes to current technological processes or product range are to be made.
“By building the new production facilities, the intensity of lorry transport between Sungwoo Hitech in Ostrava (the Czech Republic) and Sungwoo Hitech in Žilina will be reduced,” reads the proposal.
Sungwoo Hitech is a supplier of components for Hyundai Motors and KIA Motors. Founded in Žilina in 2006, Sungwoo Hitech Slovakia specialises mostly in the production of metal structures, motorised vehicles including their combustion engines as well as car bodies, TASR wrote.
The company’s capital is registered at €8.44 million, with South Korean firms Sung Woo Hitech Co. Ltd., I-zone Co. Ltd. and Lee Myung Keun listed as owners.
