Some are not even lucky enough to have someone to visit them in a senior home. The project Elderly launched by the Hewlett-Packard company, is focused just on this group of people.

“Our goal is to make the lives of seniors as pleasant as possible, by involving them in various activities,” Ingrid Masárová of the company said. She added that she considers the project beneficial to both sides: seniors enjoy the company of volunteers, and the company employees garner new experiences and feelings.

Volunteers visit seniors once a month, and spend time with them. The programme is manifold, from thematic activities (e.g. decorating Easter eggs or baking Christmas cakes) to trips.

However, the project does not stand still, and Hewlett-Packard tries to improve and enhance it every year. Last year, for example, they started to work on the development of technical skills of seniors.

Currently, they are preparing a classroom where seniors could regularly attend computer courses led by company’s volunteers.
