SLOVAKIA’S foreign trade account posted a surplus of €347.7 million in February, an increase of €170.2 million year-on-year, the country’s Statistics Office announced on April 5. Overall exports reached €4.747 billion in February, rising by 8.7 percent on an annual basis, while imports increased by 5 percent year-on-year to reach €4.399 billion, the TASR newswire reported.
Slovakia’s foreign trade surplus was €263.9 million in January, an increase of €24.3 million year-on-year. Slovakia exported goods worth a total of €4.412 billion in January, up 8.3 percent year-on-year, TASR wrote, while imported goods in that month were valued at €4.148 billion, an increase of 8.2 percent year-on-year.
The Statistics Office noted that the most significant trade surpluses were due to trade with Germany (€347.6 million), the Czech Republic (€246.2 million) and Austria (€228.5 million).
The most significant trade deficits were in trade with Russia (€380.8 million), South Korea (€264.6 million) and China (€200 million).
