SLOVAK Telekom, which operates both fixed-line and mobile services, launched a new joint brand name, ‘Telekom’, in October 2011 to replace T-Com and T-Mobile, the brands it had previously used. The rebranding is the final step in the integration of the company’s fixed-line and mobile telephone businesses that it launched in the summer of 2010, the SITA newswire reported.
The change in Slovakia follows the international strategy pursued by Slovak Telekom’s majority shareholder, Deutsche Telekom, in developing its corporate identity.
“The introduction of one strong, common brand for fixed-line and mobile network services is the final and logical move in the integration process that we began in summer last year,” said Dušan Švalek, CEO of the marketing division at Slovak Telekom, as quoted by SITA.
The company has also combined its customer service lines and created a single web portal to replace the separate websites of the two brands.
Deutsche Telekom holds 51 percent of the shares of Slovak Telekom, Slovakia’s Economy Ministry holds 34 percent and the country’s National Property Fund holds 15 percent.
