Železničná Spoločnosť Slovensko (ZSSK) had planned to sell 10 almost 30-year-old railway cars for a minimum of €152,000, excluding VAT. The tender competition was cancelled on Tuesday, July 13. The head of the communication department at ZSSK, Zuzana Červená, said that the Transport Minister’s office had delivered an instruction to stop making decisions that are not operationally vital or needed to fulfil set tasks. ZSSK also said it longer needs as many locomotive units and had planned to sell five of them during the summer to avoid further costs for their maintenance and repair.
