The retail chain thus faces the risk of having to pay €4 million in total, the etrend website wrote on June 12.

After Tesco hypermarkets in Partizánske and Spišská Nová Ves and a supermarket in Spišská Belá, it was this time the Tesco hypermarket in Dunajská Streda, etrend quoted the Denník N daily.

Similarly as in previous cases, the British retail chain got a big fine for selling groceries after the deadline for consumption. Another reason was, according to the inspection, that it offered groceries that cannot be considered as safe and it did not stick to duties and requirements for hygiene in its stores.

Central head of the State Veterinary and Food Administration Jozef Bíreš told Denník N that almost all big retail chains face huge fines; but Tesco is so far the only one whose fine for violation of the law has been confirmed.
